Back to Louie’s! I told you that I would be back. The big question though, would they live up to my expectations?
Enjoying a place once is fantastic, especially when you don’t have any expectations. I had seen Louie’s food in pictures before the first time I went there, but I’d never seen it in person or tasted it, so I had no idea what to expect? This was a different experience though. This time I was going in with one visit under my belt – I had been there, I had thoroughly enjoyed the food and I had high expectations for my second visit.
Again, I walked in at about 2 p.m. on a Sunday and there were only a couple people inside. Much of the menu had been picked over, but the things I was there to get were still on the menu. The last time I was there they were sold out of brisket, so I knew that was going to be part of my order. I wasn’t ridiculously hungry, but I wanted two things so I could finish the rest for dinner or some other time.
I ordered a brisket sandwich with grilled corn on the cob and French fries plus a dozen smoked wings. I had two complimentary wings last time, so I knew they were delicious, and it was no fluke. They were dynamite once again! The smokiness taste from having been cooked right on the smoker was undeniably delicious. I’m willing to say now that they’re my favorite wings in Louisville!
The brisket sandwich was also delicious. I took a bite and it was so nice and juicy that it practically fell apart and melted in my mouth. Absolutely delicious! I put no sauce on it because I think good meat doesn’t need sauce. This brisket was delicious all by itself. My only complaint would be that the bun has a bit too much bread, but it was manageable. The corn on the cob and French fries were great like last time as well.
All in all, I’ve been to Louie’s twice and had three entrees and each of them were delicious. You don’t get that at many restaurants. Don’t just go to Louie’s, run there!
